Transverse myelitis may occur in the setting of another illness or in isolation. When there is no apparent underlying cause, it is referred to as idiopathic. transverse myelitis is neurological syndrome caused by inflammation of the spinal cord, and this inflammation interrupts pathway between body and brain and causes symptoms like: weakness, bowel and bladder dysfunction, back pain. Almost all patients develop legs and arms weakness, tingling or numbness in the legs. Recovery, partial or complete begins within 1-3 moths or may be absent. Significant recovery is unlikely.
