I have heard for one case when young man got hematocoele because of scrotal trauma. It was my friend’s neighbor, so I found out some details about this. I found out that hematocoele is collection of blood within the scrotum. This really made me worry, because I know it’s possible for all of us to catch some kind of trauma. That’s why I want to know more about trauma and hematocoele, and what that is actually.

As you already know, hematocoele is extratesticular collection of blood and blood productis within scrotum. That is usually the sequela of scrotal trauma. Internal echoes are present in the extra-testicular fluid. Thickened septa, scrotal wall thickening, and calcification may also be present with trauma caused hematocoela. Atrophy of the testicles is seen in the chronic states. As blood is a good culture medium, it is possible for haematocoele to become secondarily infected and become a pyocoele. A pyocoele may be indistinguishable from a haematocoele. This has been seen in case where mobile echoes are visualized within fluid collections. MRI is helpful in distinguishing a haematocoele from a pyocoele and chronic hydrocoele. Signal characteristics would depend on the age of the trauma caused haematocoele, similar to the testicular haematoma.
