I am interested in mechanism of action of trazodone hydrochloride on serotonin metabolism. How does serotonin take part in depression? My friend has some serious problems in family and doctor prescribed her Trialodine. I can’t observe any changes in her behaving. She is as drowsy and quiet as before. What are the effects of serotonine and trazodone?

Trazodone hydrochloride may cause drowsiness. Respond is visible within 2 weeks of treatment. This drug belongs to class of antidepressants. It stops the uptake of serotonin by the nerves in CNS and makes it more available in the brain. This amount of serotonin decreases depression. It is very important to avoid alcohol, sedatives and hypnotics during treatment with Trialodin.
