i had sex with a girl that had been diagnosed with chlamydia, i went to my doctor and he prescibed doxycycline for ten days twice a day, but i wasnt tested, he said it was difficult to test for because i didnt have no discharge and the test would more likely be negative, so how do i know if the infection is gone now if i cant be tested according to my doctor??? i still have tender and aching testicles, was it from the medicine or do i still have the infection?

Usually doxy is given for an entire month for CT. 2wks is not enough. You can email a CT specialist Dr. Attila Toth at ***** & ck with him on that. Best is Zithromax 500mg daily for 2wks. Retest 2wks later by hvg a urethral swab with "Direct Immunoflouresence Antibody" testing method. You can request this method but nd to ck where your doc can send it to that does this. I think Mayo Clinic does this method & MacLeod Lab in NYC. You will hv to call around. Check with your hospital send out lab dept...they may know.l DIF is the highest detection for CT/GC and PCR method is the nxt best thing. Then u should retest a couple more times every 4-6mos bcos it takes a long time for the CT to show up in the body and sometimes it goes into hibernation & will show up yrs later again. Keep on top of it no matter wht your doc says. CT is a bear to clear up...some strains are very persistant. My best to you.
