I recently found out that my friend has pyuria. I was bit surprised and to be honest, I have no idea what is this condition all about. Can someone tell me that? What is the treatment for pyuria?

It is normal that you don’t know anything about it. You can always talk to your friend and ask her about it. Offer her help; I am sure that she will be grateful. I will try to explain to you what Pyuria is, in the simplest way. Pyuria is the presence of elevated numbers of white cells in a urine which appears sterile using standard culture techniques. The causes of this condition include a treated urinary tract infection within 2 weeks of treatment, inadequately treated urinary tract infection, renal stones, prostatitis, chlamydia urethritis, interstitial cystitis and polycystic kidney. Presence of pyuria increases significance of low bacterial count and when it comes to treatment antibiotics are proscribed as indicated by culture. I am sure that your friend will be ok.
