It could depend on what type of hernia the baby has if it is a congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH). Surgical intervention before birth may be necessary to improve survival of the fetus with CDH and polyhydraminos. If you can find out what type of hernia, let me know and I will see if I can give you more information on this....Hope this helps...Good Luck....

Fetal Surgery is rarely offered as course of treatment - even in the days they were using it fairly regularly. The studies concluded that a baby had no better or worse chance of survival. If it is indeed CDH - CHOPS, Boston Childrens and some other Medical Centers are highly recommended.

I am the founder of Breath of Hope - an organization for families, friends and anyone else that wants to know more about Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia. We have a Yahoo Group of very supportive parents. Did a serch and came up with this reply - I had to let you know about the current research. EU has studies currently for Fetal Surgery. US no longer is doing it except upon a case by case basis.
