urinating problems after gall bladder surgery

my dad had gll blader surgery10 days ago, and is not able to urinate, and has a catherter inserted. what could be the cause of this.

I am a 39 year old female that just had gaulbladder surgery 4 days ago and since i came home from the surgery center i havent been able to urinate right. i feel as thou i have to go and that i cant hold it but it wont come out. I have to push really hard( which really hurts) and i dont know why

Don't worry, I two had gall bladder surgery and went home from the hosp feeling the same way you do. I really thought they had messed up while I was under and they catheterise ya, but that feeling finally went away, I can urinate normally. It took about a week! I would give it a few more days and see if not call your surgeon!
