vaginal cleaning

I tend to have vaginal infection on a regular basis especially when I during my periods. What could be the cause of this? I will try anything! I just wish to prevent them from coming at all, I am very careful with cleaning my genitals. I also got the diflucan pill from my Dr., but they keep recurring.

I guess that one possible reason may be that you are washing yourself much more often during your period and using more soap. This can alter your natural PH balance. By cleaning your vagina too much, you expose your body to the fungus which causes the infection. Perfumed soaps tend to cause this especially, however I'm not sure how reliable this information is, but I seem to remember the nurse once recommending that you put a little yoghurt on a tampon and insert as you usually would to let the good bacteria do their work at the source. I never tried this.
