vaginal infection during pregnancy

Ok so I am 15 weeks pregnant and have had a yellow stretchy discharge for the last 2 months.In the last two days I have had severe burning, chaffing and some redness and swelling down there and it hurts to wipe.i have my first ob appt. 2 weeks from now and I didnt have a dr yet so I went to the after hour clinic.The dr there gave me a pap and said I had a bacterial infection.So he perscribed me flagyl. (he seemed wishy washy and unsure of himself)My question is I filled the perscription but also picked up some extra strength vagisil to relieve my burning.The problem is when I apply it it helps for like 5 minutes then the burning comes back stronger and my inner liaba starts throbbing/pulsating and it goes on for like two hours.Is this a allergic reaction? I cant find any info on the web on why I would have throbbing along with the burning?Its REALLY uncomfortable as I am aware of it 24/7. CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHAT AND WHY THIS IS happening??

Nina. A vaginal infection during pregnancy is very common! During my 3 pregnancies were the only time I had ever had them. (Oh the joy) Needless to say, you are NOT alone! I am glad that you went to the doctor so you could be seen and get treated for this, though!!! It sounds like you "may" be having a reaction to the new medication you bought. I would suggest if the medication is causing that much discomfort that you discuss this with your Doctor or NP to see if you should still use this with the other med. Most likely they will tell you to stop using the over the counter med you bought. Always be safe (especially during pregnancy) and double check ANY medications (either oral or topical) with your Doctor before taking them. Good luck!
