I used the ring pessary for one year. Gynecologist put it in and left it there and it stayed just fine, but it felt like "you know what" having it put in. It didn't feel good coming out either, although for that year it was great. However, close to the end it began to stink, I guess that vaginal discharge stayed on it and that is why I had it out. I didn't have a good feeling about leaving something in there that long, but my gynecologist said it was okay unless I had problems.

I am shocked that your gynecologist left your ring pessary in for a year without having you come back to check it and clean it. I have used a ring pessary since 2003, a small device, similar to a diaphragm or cervical cap, which is inserted into the vagina to hold the prolapsed organ in place. My gynecologist has me go in for checkups every 3- 6 months and also checks to make sure it isn't causing any problems. I also take it out and clean it myself and re inserts it, it is not only vaginal discharge, what happens when you have periods?
