For a long time ago I have problem with anxiety. Sometimes I feel tension associated with psychoneurosis too. Effectiveness of Vistaril as an antianxiety agent for long term use that is, more than 4 months has not been assessed by systematic clinical studies. Your physician should reassess periodically the usefulness of the drug especially for each patient. Side effects for Vistaril that are reported usually appear as mild and transitory in nature. Dry mouth, drowsiness, involuntary motor activity, including rare instances of tremor and convulsions are some of side effects that have been reported. Hypersedation is the most common manifestation of over dosage of Vistaril.
