weight gain on tricyclic antidepressants

Hi, my sister is taking antidepressants and after few weeks she gained her weight for several pounds. Before she started to take antidepressants she was very thin and her appetite was pretty bad. Now she is in completely different situation and she is worried that she will become too fat. I would like to know if someone had similar experiences.

Hi, I was taking antidepressants too. Medications which I was using were from the group of tricyclic antidepressants. However it is very difficult to prove direct connection between antidepressants and weight gain. It is possible that weight gaining is caused by positive effects of antidepressants and relieving from depressive behavior.

I took tricyclic antidepressants for over a year - I gained two stone - they seem to give you strong cravings for food. Rolling Eyes
