weight loss after thyroidectomy

I had a thyroidectomy 3 weeks ago. My weight has gone down by 2lbs. Do you think this is connected with my thyroid hormone levels, or that maybe i've just lost a bit of weight due to fretting!!

Did you have a total thyroidectomy of sub thyroidectomy? I don't believe the weight loss was caused by the thyroidectomy. It is normal for your weight to fluctuate a couple pounds. How are you doing now--almost 1 year later.
I had a sub thyroidectomy with a goiter 25 years ago when I was 25. I was 6 months pregnant. I have had thyroid tests every couple years to make sure the 5% of thyroid left on both sides was functioning correctly. I have not had to take thyroid meds. at all. As I have grown older I have put on weight but only because my metabolism has slowed. Every test shows that my thyroid is functioning normally.
