There can be lots of things which can cause the over-sweating. It can be caused by some health problems like fever, low blood sugar, overactive thyroid gland, infections etc. Or it can be caused by high temperature. Spicy foods also have influence and things like alcohol, caffeine, some drugs, withdrawal from the alcohol or narcotic pain killers. Stress and anxiety is the common cause, exercise also.
