Hello,
I am 16 years old. Ever since i was 14 i have had head twitches.. for example nodding my head yes really quick, or shaking my head no really quick. it stopped for a couple of months then it came back to me. Now as i get older i get angry really easy.. and always swear.. mad or sad. i always get emotional. I swear on a regular bases. I say the N word a lot. I swear a lot.. just letting everything out. BUT what i dont understand is when i think about it i do it more. like ill say to myself ok stop twitching then ill be like ok 1 more time.. like its really weird. I told my parents and they did not take me seriously. Like i think i have had mostly every twitch even if was for a week or a month. (tightening up muscles, head twitch yes no, pushing out my throat*hard to explain*, bending wrists, flaring nostrals, pushing out my stomach, breathing out hard, rolling eyes)
Please get back to me on what you think. |

1234567,
I am not a medical expert at all... but a few years ago my sister was diagnosed with tourettes. I noticed that ever since i was little i had tics that tended to come and go every month or so. some of them stuck for longer than others. However, i noticed that, in the end, everyone ive seen that has tourettes has quick HEAD movements, it makes tourettes easy to recognize. These are also tha hardest to stop. i was able to concentrate hard enough every time i performed one of these tics to make myself stop the habbit, but not the head movements. The symptons can be very diverse though. I also have tourettes although i chose not to have it diognosed... ive never had a problem with swearing.
Stress deffinently has a direct relationship to the symptoms. The more stressed i am the worse they seem to be. There are also other factors ive noticed like just being uncomfortable. A lot of the times i dont even realize im doing anything and when i do im like ">.< great im doing it again." and i try to stop but it is impossible to stop for any long periods of time. im just learning that im going to have to live with it. im 18 and ive been noticing this for about 5 or more years.
if anyone wanted some1 to talk to that has tourettes i would be glad to answer any questions for you |

|

| Ok so.. Ive had this habit since i was a kid, about 9-10 years old. I am 23 now and its not going away.. I dont make quick head movements or have strange vocal noises, but i have a habit of stretching my face a lot.. Its like I make funny, yet strange faces at times.. It went away for quite sometime, I think i kind of trained myself not to do it anymore because i was always around many people and I didnt want to be embarrassed, but then my father died in 2006 and it came right back, possibly even worse. I feel like if i tell myself not to do it, i wont, but sometimes i dont even notice i am doing it. Is this a sign of tourettes? Or is it possible that it just became a bad habit over the years? |
