what does swelling of the liver mean!? Help!

my boyfriend is a hypocomdriact and he went t o the doctor today and they told him there was swelling in his liver. no he is telling me that if he has some kind of cancer in his liver i have t o leave him. i need to know why this might be happening to his liver? why could it be swelling? someone please help me out here i need to give him some information so i can tell him there is nothing to orry about.
