Hello, my son is 8 years old and for couple of years back he had a lot of respiratory infections and each infection ended with dyspnea. Last time we went to a doctor, he said that those were asthma attacks and that he should start with an appropriate therapy. He prescribed him with flovent hfa. What is that?

That is a corticosteroid that is applied locally (respiratory tract). This means that he does not produce side effects as steroids that are given orally. This medicament will help him breathe more easily; prevent the inflammation of air pathways. So, you do not have to worry about the “toxicity” of this medicament.
