what is normal for IBS?

Ive never realy asked anyone and my doctor does not seem to say much and all tests come back negative, I was diagnosed for IBS, and a hynal hernia, I am almost every day bloated and sore I cant remeber when the last time my stool was noramal, exept brief occasions for occasions is this normal to hardley ever have a normal bowel movement?
