Testosterone is a hormone, called male hormone although females’ bodies produce it as well. However, the amount of this hormone produced in males is twenty times the amount of testosterone produced in females.

In males, the hormone is particularly produced in the testes in females by the ovaries but adrenal glands produce small amounts of the hormone as well.

Testosterone aids in muscle mass and strength growth, bone maturation and density. Sexual organ development, growth in general, body hair growth and has effects on energy, sexual function, mood, and libido.

Low levels of this hormone can produce many negative effects depending on at what age the deficiency occurs. Testosterone can be used as a drug produced synthetically to boost the testosterone levels in the body.
