Nobody’s stomach works well when they eat large meals.
This is because large meals need a lot of time to digest and absorb. It takes many hours to clear all the food from the intestines and if you eat smaller meals but more often is much better than eating large meals irregularly.
As the food stays in the intestines, you may feel bloated.
We also get tired after large meals because all the blood from brain goes to the intestines to carry the oxygen and to take nutrients to deliver to the body. The brain is deprived from blood and we feel tired and sleepy.
It also matters what you eat. For example, proteins and fat take a lot of time, between five to seven hours, to digest and absorb. On the other hand, carbohydrates take much less, between 3 and 4.
So, try eating smaller meals more often and avoid overeating. |
