when is it time to have catarac surgery

I currently wear tri focals and have difficulty seeing small print and using the computer.My doctor said i could schedule catarac surgery any time that i fely like seeing better. I;m not sure it's time, just how bad should my vision be when it's time for surgery, what should I look for.
