why do i have sensitive nipples?

I am a male and am 36 years old. I have had very sensitive and painful nipples for the past few months. What is this all about??

If you were an adolescent, I would say that this is normal. However, nipple pain in an adult male needs investigation.
You also need to make sure that the pain is coming directly from the nipples and not the tissue above or under. Nipple pain could be due to some kind of an infection, cysts, cloths irritation, etc
Considering that the pain has been present for several months now, you better have this checked.

My guess is that one of two things have changed. Have you changed laundry detergent? Have you strated working out at the gym and are you using their towels? A lot of people have mild allergies linked to soaps and detergents. Second, have you started using new shampoo, lotions or soaps? A lot of personal care products contain agents (menthol) that can cause this type of irritation. Good luck!!
