after bunion surgery i was wondering if i would need crutches afterwards and how long i would need them for Question

Your surgeon will tell you everything you should know and how you should behave following bunionectomy. You should follow your doctor’s instruction following first few weeks after the surgery so that your foot could properly heal.
You will certainly have your foot covered in bandages and some kind of cast or protected shoe to make sure your foot is placed in the corrected position, so it wouldn’t move.
The bandages are usually taken about two weeks post op but you will have to make sure your foot is in the right position by wearing a brace or a dressing much longer that this, for 1 or 1,5 months.
The dressings shouldn’t get wet as this may interrupt with the healing. If the healing’s interrupted you may experience bunion recurrence, so your surgery would be in vain.
Some doctors order crutches or a walker, some don’t depending on the individual case. They are only used for a few days post op.
