I was recently prescribed valtrex for an outbreak. I did not begin taking the medication because it seemed to be retreating on its own. Unfortunately, four days later new lesions appeared, telling me that it had not gone into remission like I had thought.
I began taking the Valrex on day six of the outbreak despite hearing rumours that it would only be effective if taken within the first 24 hours. It does not seem to be working that well...but my main question is am I harming my body or making the virus more resistant by beginning valtrex so late in the outbreak?
And, it I continue taking valtrex daily from this point....will this mid-outbreak beginning take any effect?
