I have been to several doctors for my chronic pain and they all want to do the same, which is to prescribe narcotic analgesics. I don't really want to be dependant on these drugs, but I also want a life free from pain. I am desperate at this point. Do you have any advice? What are the side effects...

Am I the only person who thinks that common, over the counter painkillers are overused a lot? I am 17 years old and I have terrible pre menstrual pains and cramps. I have to take some pain med because I can’t stand feeling like that. It is sometimes for few days. I was just looking for tip what pain meds are the best. Is anyone here that would like to help me?
