sore nipples at 51

I am a female of 51 and am puzzled by the fact that my nipples are tender and sore as when I was young and breast feeding my children. There is no discharge, no swelling and not cracks or flakiness. I have felt my breasts but the soreness in only in the nipples and I don't feel lumps anywhere....

breast swelling and changing color but im on depo

ive been on depo for almost 3 months now and just here recently my breast have began to swell and get darker around the nipple.. And i am having to use the bathroom alot more often then normal. Im not sure if this would be signs of pregnancy or just signs of the depo shot?
