Corticosteroids (Hormonal preparations)

Corticosteroids are drugs related to cortisol, a hormone produced in the adrenal cortex. Corticosteroids are used primarily as anti-inflammatories but could be also used for treating some malignancies or natural hormone deficiency. Corticosteroid Drugs Include: Betamethasone (Celestone), Budesonide (Entocort EC), Cortisone (Cortone), Dexamethasone (Decadron), Hydrocortisone (Cortef), Prednisolone (Prelone), Prednisone (Deltasone) and Triamcinolone (Kenacort, Kenalog).

cortison side affects

I received a cortison injection in my elbow. Four weeks later my blood sugar has hit 415. I am using diet and nature path supplements to try and correct it. I hit 185 but seem to be stuck in the mid to high 200s. I don't want to become diabetic but it looks bad.

I have had several injections over a span of about 2 - 2 1/2 years. Is it safe to have multiple injections and over what period of time? I get total relief from the injections but over time the pain comes back. I'm trying to decide long I should continue having injections. Diane
