Lymph nodes on the outside of big intestine

My grandson who is 9 years old has a mass of lymph nodes on the out side of his big intestine some are so big as the first part of my thumb the performed a biopsy the result is negative he is clean. the Dr said he will start a gluten free diet. with testing wether he is gluten intolerant. is this ok
