My brother has been very ill recently. Sometimes I go to his house to visit him, and he just sits there, staring at one spot in the wall and not reacting to anything or anyone. I have searched on the web, and apparently he might have catatonic schizophrenia. What do you think - is this it?

I am asking a few questions for a friend of mine, who has a son with schizophrenia. He has also been diagnosed with endocrine disorder, which is a new diagnosis and not something she knew anything about prior to that. Please tell me if this is something that is common in schizophrenia?
