I have Strep, and the White Spots won't go away

I was diagnosed with strep. I have been on antibiotics for over 48 hours and my tonsils still have large white spots on them (especially on the right tonsil). Is that normal? Do I need a stronger antibiotic? Am I still contageous? Thanks!
