i have had these exact symptoms for the past 7 years .. wish i knew what it was. I have had all the heart tests and everything comes back fine.
I have this and I can assure people it's 100% anxiety based. Booze is a depressant which even if u don't suffer with anxiety will give u mild symptons. I do suffer with anxiety. This is a habit forming feeling the more you think about it the worse it gets.
I have this same problem too after a night of drinking I have shortness of breath all day and very severe at times that I feel like I'm bout to pass out or die but than it subsides the next day all though I do have shortness of breath ocassionally when I haven't drink so I'm guessing it's anxiety just ramped up from drinking the night before and as for the coffee I used to love cappachinos but I've noticed anytime I drink them I have have trouble breathing within a few hours so it must be anxiety from the caffeine causing adrenaline and the same with the alcohol leaving the body the next day I hope that this helps that's my experience anyways
I read most posts here and found them to be very comforting and of great help. I'm forty and have been at it since I was 17. symptomatic for past 15 years, but only after a several day binge. now it takes less. i'm certain that alcohol and anxiety are the main culprits.
many have offered their advice for treatment, but i haven't seen anyone state the obvious, unless I missed it.
a binge shouldn't be abruptly stopped. I have to taper off the hooch for days, usually for as long as the binge lasted, sometimes even longer. even if it was only one night. having my first drink later each day, and drinking less each day. I know its not healthy, and clearly buts me in the alcoholic category, but its better than suffering.
Although I don't exercise regularly, I do on days I'm tapering off. this helps tremendously, and will usually shorten the days needed to taper.
just came off a 5 day one. I was on vacation for a week, holiday for you brits. my blood alcohol content didn't hit zero for five days. I have a breathalyzer and monitor it often. the U.S. has pretty strict drinking and driving laws, my home state is even worse.
so that's it for me. I've tried moderation for 20 years and failed. I'm finally throwing in the towel. I will be seeking treatment and hoping to be able to abstain altogether.
good luck to you all.

What do they say about drinking and fatty liver
This is exactly the same with me, have you ever had a diagnosis?
Have the same symptoms and took myself twice to the hospital emergency room did a lot of tests and the tests came back negative, and the diagnoses was anxiety, my next tests will be with the ENT for the throat irritation day after drinking
I had the same issues as all of you from drinking and went to the ER and my iron and potassium was low. Low potassium can make you feel like your having a heart attack. Try to make sure your getting enough potassium and iron and see if it helps. Hope it helps you. Mine was at a 2.4 and I felt like I was gonna die seriously
The chest paint in one area after vomiting is most likely a muscle strain from the force of vomiting. It happens to me anytime I get sick. I also have problems breathing the next days after. It's usually caused by alcohol affecting the nervous system, respiratory system and can be caused by anxiety as well. It's normal and effects everyone differently especially on any meds. Hope this helps!
Legion...these are all withdrawal symptoms. The nervous system is automatically triggering a fight or flight response to the changes in dopamine levels that occur, not dopamine for caffeine but same idea.
You may not think it is anxiety but it can also be panic. Just because we are trying to acknowledge we know what is happening and it will be fine, the brain can still be registering a physiological response of anxiety or panic.
Look up GEneralized Anxiety Disorder...it is often coupled with those who suffer from mild to moderate Alcohol Withdrawal Syndrome.
Ive been a heavy drinker for almost 20 years. Up to a case a day for weeks to months at a time and the symptoms of chest tightness, left chest neck shoulder pain, random quick sharp left chest pain (many times at the end of an exhale) have finally caught up with me.
These are physiological responses of anxiety and can be panic attacks when the symptoms worsen and scare us or catch us off guard.
Now I had it twice...going thru second time now. It's hell! 9 hours at work yesterday felt like a year!!!! The first time, the chest symptoms last 3 or 4 days...this time might be short due to less magnitude of heavy drinking prior to stopping, but still too much!
Randomly starting to sweat in social environments of AWS and GAD as well.

I'm detoxing right now and left the ER after 4 hours because they were only willing to give me fluids. My BAC was .45 Besides my addiction I'm an otherwise healthy female 5'6" 120 lbs. I'm experiencing trouble breathing and I couldn't find an accurate reason why on this site. It's scary and I'm searching for some clarification. Can anyone tell me? And did they fully recover from it??
While I do believe some of the breathing issues result from physical damage done by drinking. A lot of it is anxiety and the withdrawal from booze. I've just been clean from heavy drinking for 26 days and all my symptoms have pretty much disappeared within the first 7-10 days. I usually try go for 1-3 months sober a couple of times a year.
It's anxiety from Alcholhol Withdrawal. You need Valium to detox or a good taper plan. You cannot go cold turkey! Look up Alchohol withdrawal syndrome...when I went through it I needed the Valium family support and a few days off to get rid of the chest pain and constant feeling to catch my breathe
Jumping off task here, been a few years since I've been on here. Struggled w/ breathing issue for a while, misery.
Turns out, once I was disgnosed with Vocal Chord Disfunction it eased my anxiety which was making it worse. VCD makes it feel like you are breathing thru a straw. My anxiety made it worse as I didnt know what it was. Dr told me they see that in asthmatics. Just FYI in case anyone else has same problem. My asthma Dr missed it.....then retired and my new Dr diagnosed it. It is theraputic to know what it is.
