What is the recovery time after surgery to repair a hole in

Hi..I have just been diagnosed with a hole in the semicircular part of my left ear, which may require surgery to repair. I have been told it will have to be done as if it were brain surgery. Has anyone had it done? and how long is the recovery period? Please any help will be appreciated!!

I suffer chronic parotits. I have problems and feel pain when swallow and my neck is tender in that area. I use pain killers, like acetaminophene, but I haven’t found them very helpful. My throat is not red, but the glands are a bit larger. How should I treat these symptoms? Thanks.
