I was diagnosed with phrenic nerve damage on my right side, can it get worse if I don't have surgery to correct it. I had my scalene muscle removed and a first rib resection.  Can it get worse if I do not have any thing done to correct it, like surgery?

In January 2008 I had a pancreatis attack, after 5 days in the hospital, my gall bladder was removed. Today June 2008, I still have numbness and lots of pain in the upper part of my stomach.
