Regular periods, but this month it's too light

My periods are usually very light in nature anyways. But sometimes I have a period and sometimes I don't. Sometimes there is regular timing inbetween them somtimes not. My husband and I have been trying to conceive for over a year. I went to a doctor who said my problem was that I wasn't ovulating....
