Spotting before my period

Can spotting cause you to get your period later than usual? I am on birth control and take it regularly. I havent missed a pill or been late taking one. I experienced spotting about a week before my scheduled period. I had sex with my boyfriend 3 or four days after my last period. Confused!!!

i've been having my period for 1 day only each month
