irregular period while on NuvaRing

I have been using the NuvaRing for about a 3 months now. Just recently, I have experienced some irregular bleeding (dark brown in color). My body doesn't feel like this is a normal period (no cramps or bloating). I'm not suppose to start my period for another week or so. Is this normal?
