glossopharyngeal nerve problem

is it possible nerve can cause palate to suddenly become dead dry while I am sleeping, awakening me several times during the night. It rarely happens in the daytime while I am awake. A sip of water hydrates the palate and I go back to sleep but am awakened again within an hour
