Sedative (Depressant) and Antidepressant Dependence

Sedatives (depressants) are drugs that that suppress the central nervous system, causing the body to slow down and relax, relieving anxiety and producing sleep. The most commonly used/abused are barbiturates (Amytal, Nembutal, Seconal, phenobarbital) and benzodiazepines (Ativan, Halcion, Librium, Valium, Xanax, Rohypnol) but also chloral hydrate, glutethimide (Doriden), methaqualone and meprobamate. Talk about sedative dependence on this forum.

I hate this drug I am so mad at the doctor who ever prescribed it. I have been on it for around 3 years noy and went from 2mgs a day down to .5 once a day...I can tell you I am not ok. I am already experiencing withdrawls. I get them even if I don't have it for one day. my eyes look all bugged out...

My husband had been prescribed klonopine 1mg 2 times a day. He was so depressed he would take 10 mg or more a day and ran out after 5.5 days so basically is less than 6 days he took 60mgs.
