STD trichamonis vaginitis reccurrance

What would be the reason that normal treatment with the medication metroconizol for this infection would not clear it up, besides HIV. Why would the infection continue to reaccure after the mensrtual period in a women. Can herpese be related to the reccurance of trichamonas?
