Zits on pubic area?

Two days ago, my boyfriend and I had unprotected sex. We've been together almost a year, with no other partners. Yesterday, he had pimples pop up on his thigh, not on his penis, but around the area. Could they be from sweating or friction, or should I be worried about something more serious?
