Taking Gabapentin Side effects include swelling of the face

I was given a prescription of gabapentin in may(60-300mg capsules)to take twice a day after having foot surgery.Side effect include swelling of the face as well as other side effect. will the swelling go down, and other side effects stop if I stop taking the medication? I have 13 capsules left.
