Antianxiety Drugs (Sedatives)

Antianxiety drugs depress the central nervous system and suppress anxiety, sleepiness and relax muscles. They are also called downers or minor tranquilizers. When abused, many of these drugs can lead to unconsciousness and death. Sedatives include: barbiturates, benzodiazepines, carisoprodol, glutethimide, ketamine (Ketaset®), opioids, opium, and zopiclone. Talk about all antianxiety drugs on this forum.

Hi, my problem is not anxiety but insomia. I can't sleep well or sometimes can't sleep at all, but next day I'm fine and don't feel very tired. It's been going on for quite a while. The doctor prescribe me with lorans 0.5mg. just wonder if there's any side effect or does it treat insomia?
