side effects of erythromycin

Are there any people here who have taken erythromycin before? I am allergic to penicillin and I am wondering if someone could tell me what erythromycin is like? I have heard that this is the most common drug top replace penicillin. What are the side effects of erythromycin? Thanks for your help.
