I have been reading some material about polymyositis and dermatomyositis. I see that clinical features are almost identical. The main difference is skin rash which is present with dermatomyositis, but not in polymyositis. I was wondering if there are some other differences that I am not aware of....

I have just been diagnosed with polymyositis last month, and I was prescribed prednisone for this. To be honest, while I am happy that I have a diagnosis and I am getting treatment now, I am no great lover of prednisone and its renowned side effects. Are there any alternatives to this drug?

Hi. My daughter has been diagnosed with vasculitis. I know that this is inflammation of the blood vessel’s wall. However, her doctor recommends her taking vitamin D. I am not sure why she suggested that, I forgot to ask. I would like to know the link between them. Can anyone help?
