Recovery time for bunion surgery

I just had bunion surgery today & It went very well. However, my doctor told me it was worse than he thought & that I pretty much had worn out my cartilage entirely (waiting too long to have the surgery) I'm just wondering if anyone else had that problem and does it affect the recovery time....

I hava a bunion on the side of my right foot that i feel i might need surgery on and i just started having sharp burning pain in the Big Toe near the Bunion. Could this Pain be caused by the bunion or is it something else?
