Corticosteroids (Hormonal preparations)

Corticosteroids are drugs related to cortisol, a hormone produced in the adrenal cortex. Corticosteroids are used primarily as anti-inflammatories but could be also used for treating some malignancies or natural hormone deficiency. Corticosteroid Drugs Include: Betamethasone (Celestone), Budesonide (Entocort EC), Cortisone (Cortone), Dexamethasone (Decadron), Hydrocortisone (Cortef), Prednisolone (Prelone), Prednisone (Deltasone) and Triamcinolone (Kenacort, Kenalog).

Since Feb 1992 I have given cortizone shots for my wrists (carpal Tunnel), my knees (bi-lateral arthroscopis surgery, my let shoulder (torn ratotor cuff), my lower lumbar, my elbows for tendonitis, and my heels for pain. My question is if cortizone shots have side effects through the years.

I have CTS and am advised to have CTS cortisones shot treatments. So actually I don’t know what does that means and will these CTS cortisones shot treatments will help me to get rid of this sharp pain I have and how much cortisones shots are needed usually. Thanks.

I was wondering is there other anti-inflammatory other then prednisone with same effects. I’ve been having stomach problems from Prednisone and ulcer. Would do you think is it from Prednisone or maybe I will have from any anti-inflammatory?

Scared of Prednisone

Hi. I have arthritis and am on Prednisone. Whenever I take my pill I feel dizzy and my joints are still in the pain. A doctor told me that my condition will improve during the therapy but so far nothing. I`m scared of taking any more Prednisone. What to do?

Hi. 17 yo M and was diagnosed with orbital myositis. My doctor has prescribed me prednisone and some immunosuppressant. Don`t know if it`s right for me because my head hurts really bad. Should I try with something else, not prednisone? Also, I would like to hear more about OM.

Are there any side effects of taking vicodin while receiving cortisone injections?

I received a cortisone shot into my lower back on Friday afternoon and on Saturday eveing I took a 5mg Vicodin. On Sunday I awoke with my skin tender and painful to the touch and overall body and skin achiness. Is this a side effect of mixing the two medications?
