I had a tummy tuck, when is it going to get better?

I had a tummy tuck 6 wks ago and I am still draining fluid and I have a six inch deep hole in my incision and its about 3/4 of an inch wide. Is this sound normal? What should I do to help. My Dr. said its going to get better but when?
