Extreme back upper leg pain

My father is 88 and experienced strong pain after seating down for moment when he gets up The upper back left leg muscle hurt like crazy and this been going on for a few month more and less intense . Doctor check Is condition and had a Body IRM ( scaned )and can't fine the causes .Any idea?
