Periods in my early 50's.

I am a 52 year old cancer survivor and I have started my period that I have not had in 8 years, what is this all about? I did make an appt with my doctor at the end of Jan. for a physical. Should I be alarmed? I am on my 6th day and it has been heavy. Thank you

I was wondering can having a Pap test during menstruation affect the results? I have scheduled appointment at gynecologist tomorrow and I’ve got my period today. I've heard not to get one during this time because it can cause abnormal result, why is this?
