Diarrhea during every period

clear slimy discharge on my period

I am 38 yrs old, and I started my period today I thought for sure it was a heavy period but its not its more mucus mixed with light pink to dark red bleeding. I am cramping more than usual and more on my right side of my hip than any where else. Could it be ovulation or something else?
